Vegetables to Support Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of increased nutritional needs in order to nourish yourself and your growing fetus. When it comes to vitamins and minerals daily needs for folate, iron , iodine, and zinc are substantially increased and Vitamin C, magnesium, and calcium are slightly increased. Additionally vegetables are a great source of important nutrients for fetal development like Vitamin A and choline, and of course fiber to help prevent constipation that often occurs in pregnancy as digestion slows down so that your body has more opportunity to absorb nutrients.

In utero the fetus begins tasting embryonic fluid as early as 8 weeks gestation. This begins to develop their palate based on the foods the mother is consuming, so you can literally help your child to like the taste of vegetables more by consuming them yourself while pregnant.
